On sait que les jeunes plants de végétaux sont particulièrement vulnérables aux intempéries aussi bien qu'à un excès de chaleur et d'ensoleillement. C'est particulièrement le cas des jeunes plants de vigne. Plus précisément, différentes circonstances peuvent entraîner le dépérissement du plant:

Enfin, des trous d'aération pratiqués dans la paroi latérale du dispositif permettent de limiter la température au voisinage du plant, en cas de fort ensoleillement.
