Abstract

The invention relates to a device for assembling several documents comprising folded pages, generally in folio format, in a holder which will allow the complete article to be stored either vertically or horizontally, and may comprise two presentations. The first presentation concerns a device consisting of a jacket having a left part 1 and a right part 2 connected by a spine and two strips 3 and 4 riveted first to the part 1 and an appropriate number of rods 5 having open hooks at each end into which the strips are passed, after which the two strips are riveted to the part 2. The second presentation concerns an exactly similar device except that after the flanges have been passed through the hooks of the rods they are not rivetted to the part 2 but each held in a clasp known per se (not shown) attached to the part 2. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for the storage and handling of collections of magazines, reviews, pamphlets, journals, etc.

INCLUDING A FOLD. AS REVIEWS
DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to a device allowing the assembly of several documents in sheets, comprising in themselves a fold, generally "in folio", in a support allowing storage of the assembly either vertically or horizontally.

 I1 already exist processes contributing to a similar result, in particular by insertion in the bottom of the fold of each document or notebook, of a flexible metal rod coming to be embedded at its two ends in two grooves established at the top and bottom of the support.

 The handling of these rods is delicate and a little too much tension on the document gives an arrow to the rod which comes to come out of one or the other of the grooves and to separate the document from the storage assembly .

 The device according to the present invention overcomes these drawbacks, and provides the whole with a presentation similar to that of a traditionally bound book.

 I1 includes a cardboard jacket or other rigid material, two folds of which create a back between them; two flanges, one at the head, the other at the bottom, provide a connection between the two folds of the jacket having the effect of giving in the open position a curved shape to the part constituting the back of that -this, while the flange on the back of the documents assumes a curved almost symmetrical shape, as in an ordinary book binding, and coming in the closed position of the dust jacket to attach to the back itself.

 On these two flanges are arranged metal rods having at their ends a hook, or a loop, formed by folding the end or ends of the rod, the hook or the loop having a length allowing a sliding on the flange. Because of this feature, the metal rods can slide on the flanges, but cannot escape regardless of the tension or the weight of the documents.

The number of rods depends on the width of the back of the
jacket and thickness of the documents to be inserted in the set
that we slide to their middle under the stems by
then closing on both sides of the rods.

The flanges are made integral with the jacket by a means
known king cry: riveting, gluing, assembly, clip, loop, etc
According to a preferred embodiment, the jacket has
the shape of a binding for magazine, brochure, newspaper, such as
shown in the attached single figure.

The device shown comprises
- a jacket having a left part (1) and a right part (2)
connected by a back, or integral with a back of a chosen thickness
to be able to contain the magazines or brochures of a year or a
semester, etc ...

- two original flanges (3) and (4) riveted on the part (1), as well
than on part (2).

- an adequate number of rods (5) having hooks at each end
openings in which the flanges have passed; after which the two
flanges are riveted on part (2).

The hook of the rods is formed by simple folding at 1800, the ends
folded up to a length slightly less than the height of
the flange and being parallel to the rod a few millimeters from
this one.

 In another device, the rods are slightly less than half the length between the two flanges and have a fully closed loop at one end, like half a paper clip, which slides on a single flange, and the assembly of the magazine, etc ... takes place by inserting two half-rods in the fold of the document, one sliding on a flange and the other on the other.

The rod loop is closed by two successive folds in 1800, the loop having dimensions greater than the height and thickness of the flange on which it slides.

 According to another preferred embodiment, the two flanges (3) and (4) are riveted originally on the part (1) and are each taken in a known attachment (not shown) secured to the part (2) .

 The device according to the invention is particularly intended for archiving and handling collections of magazines, journals, brochures, newspapers, etc.

Claims (5)

 CLAIMS 1 7- Device for assembling in a support of documents of similar shapes, comprising in themselves a fold, characterized in that it comprises a dust jacket whose contiguous edges on the back are joined by two flanges, on which slide fine metal rods, the flanges in the open position having a curved shape roughly symmetrical to that of the back, as in a traditionally bound book. 2 - Device according to claim l, characterized in that the rods comprise at each of their ends a hook formed by simple folding to 180, the folded ends having a length slightly less than the height of the flange and being parallel to the rod to a few millimeters of it. 3 - Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the rods of a length slightly less than half the interval between the two flanges, comprise at a single end a loop closed by two successive folds in 1800, the loop having dimensions greater than the height and thickness of the flange on which it slides. 4 - Device according to either of the preceding claims, characterized in that the flanges are integral with each of the sides of the jacket. 5 - Device according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the flanges are integral with one of the flanks of the jacket and linked to the other flank by a fixing means known per se allowing attachment or a dropout as desired by the user.
