Abstract

Device capable of stopping the flow of a liquid during extra-corporeal circulation. The venous blood is taken from the white atrium OD of the heart using a polyvinyl tube 3, arrives in the venous reservoir 2, is then filtered by the E.C.C. pump 4 and pulsed into the oxygenator 1, oxygenated and restored into the arterial system of the patient OA. The device is characterised by the introduction of two purges 5, 6 fitted with non-return valves 7 preventing the return flow of liquid when E.C.C. procedure is stopped, making it possible, if air or gas has been introduced into the circuit, for the latter not to be infused into the arterial system of the patient, and for the extra-corporeal circuit to be immediately restarted.
