Abstract

The method involves deployment of a liquefied non-combustible gas onto the fire front, for example carbon dioxide or nitrogen. The liquefied gas is contained in a light weight metal or plastics tank. The tank includes a safety valve to release gas which vaporises between filling and discharge. An explosive charge in the tank causes it to shatter at a predetermined height above the ground to ensure optimum distribution of the liquefied gas. USE - Aerial bombardment of forest fires etc.
