Abstract

The invention relates to a chair of the legless type for use in the context of leisure activities or as an extra chair. According to the invention, two U-shaped frames 12, 14 are mounted so as to pivot with respect to each other by means of hinges 30. A cloth 18 is tensioned right around the two frames and a cushion 20 is fastened to the cloth in the pivoting region. The cushion acts as a seat, the two planar parts of the assembly of the cloth frames acting respectively as a backrest 26 and as a backrest support 28. The chair can be easily folded into a compact unit for purposes of transportation or the like. The invention also describes simplified means for making the chair foldable, as well as means for using it as an article for carrying things on the back, such as a rucksack or a baby-carrier.
