Abstract

Display package for at least one product of the cylindrical or parallelepipedal electro-chemical generator type 11 to 14, this package comprising a support card 1 on one face of which is fixed the contour 3 of a receptacle 2 made of transparent plastic material moulded to the shape of the said product, a part of the said contour running around one edge 5 of the said card. According to the invention, in the vicinity of the said edge 5, the said receptacle 2 is thermoformed in such a way as to present at least one protrusion 15, 16 with respect to the surface of the said product constituting at least one support foot whose length is greater than the width of the said receptacle, rendering the said package self-supporting when the support card is in the vertical position.

Description

Display packaging
The present invention relates to a display packaging of various products intended for display, and in particular electrochemical generators such as cylindrical or parallelepipedal electric cells and accumulators.

 The display packaging in question is of the "Blister" type. In other words, the product to be packaged is trapped in a housing formed by a transparent protective receptacle closed by a cardboard support card on which information for the identification of the product is printed.

 The periphery of the receptacle is hermetically fixed, for example by gluing or heat-sealing on the card.

 The latter most often has an opening capable of being threaded into a rod of a linear display.

 It is also desirable that these display packaging can be self-supporting in order to be arranged vertically without a display on counters or shelves of traditional shops.

 We know a self-supporting blister for cylindrical electric accumulator of type R 20 or R 14 (diameter of 33 mm and 26 mm).

 It is a "wallet" packaging consisting of a sheet of cardboard folded in half, the fold corresponding to the bottom edge. A plastic half-shell is attached to each wall of the sheet, the shape of these half-shells being such that when the cardboard walls are joined, they constitute a hermetic housing for the accumulators to be packaged, the base of these accumulators extending beyond the lower fold and constituting a bearing face for the packaging.

 The above arrangement has many drawbacks.

 First of all, it cannot be applied to accumulators of small diameters (R 6, R 3 and 6 F 22) because their base of support is insufficient to ensure the stability of the vertical position of the packaging.

 Then fi is an expensive solution requiring a double surface of cardboard and plastic, and a folding operation followed by an operation of gluing the two walls of cardboard.

 In addition, the product appears on both sides of the packaging and this results in a reduction in the surface area available for sales pitch and instructions for use.

 Finally, the extraction of the product thus packaged is impossible without the use of sharp objects.

 The present invention aims to achieve a simple and economical self-supporting display packaging applicable to all generators, and in particular to generations of small diameters.

 The subject of the present invention is a display packaging for at least one product of the cylindrical or parallelepiped electro-chemical generator type, packaging comprising a support card on one face of which is fixed the outline of a receptacle made of transparent plastic molded to the shape of said product, a part of said outline bordering an edge of said card, characterized in that, in the vicinity of said edge, said receptacle is thermoformed so as to present at least one projection relative to the surface of said product, constituting at least one foot carrier whose length is greater than the width of said receptacle, making said packaging self-supporting when the support card is in the vertical position.

 According to an advantageous embodiment, the base of said support leg and said edge of the card define a plane substantially orthogonal to the plane of said card.

 According to a preferred embodiment, the fixing of said contour is interrupted at the level of said protrusion and thus defines an air orifice for said product.

 Other characteristics and advantages of the present invention will appear during the following description of alternative embodiments given by way of illustration, but in no way limiting. In the accompanying drawing: - Figure 1 is a perspective view showing a blister according to the invention in vertical position for four cylindrical accumulators.

- Figure 2 is a perspective view showing the blister of Figure 1 in a horizontal position.

 We see in Figure 1, a display package or blister for four cylindrical accumulators 11, 12, 13, 14, diameter 12 mm, arranged parallel to each other and intended to be presented vertically as in the figure . For this they are housed in four cylindrical cells 21, 22, 23, 24 of a receptacle 2 made of transparent plastic. These cells are produced by thermoforming.

 The contour 3 of the receptacle 2 is in the form of a strip glued or heat-sealed on the face 4 of a support card 1 made of cardboard which can be plasticized. A fraction of the outline 3 runs along the lower edge 5 of the card 1. It can be seen that the entire upper part of the face 4, and the entire rear face of the card 1 are available for sales pitch and instructions for use. An opening 10 is provided in the support card 1 for possible attachment to a linear display.

 According to the invention, two protuberances 15 and 16 are provided at the time of thermoforming of the cells 21 to 24 in the part of the cells 21 and 24 intended to be located in the vicinity of the edge 5.

 Preferably the bases of these protuberances define a horizontal plane with the edge 5 so as to ensure the stability of the packaging in the vertical position.

 As can be seen in FIG. 2, the depth of the protrusions is clearly greater than that of the receptacle 2 and the diameter of the accumulators 11 to 14. The fixing of the contour 3 on the face 4 of the card 1 is interrupted at the protrusions and it appears two orifices 7 and 8 between the receptacle 2 and the card 1 ensuring the ventilation of the accumulators 11 to 14.

 Of course the form and the number of outgrowths have been given only by way of examples.

 A display packaging according to the invention can be produced easily and economically by conventional thermoforming methods, without additional operating phase compared to the blisters strung on linear displays.

 The shape of the protuberances is chosen so as to obtain the desired stiffness for the packaging as a function of the nature and thickness of the plastic material used for the receptacle; obtaining the ventilation openings is very easily obtained for discontinuity in fixing.

 The example of cylindrical electrochemical generators has been given, but the invention applies to any product.

 Without departing from the scope of the invention, any means can be replaced by equivalent means.
