Abstract

Dental impression trays are constituted by a rigid trough of horseshoe shape fitted with a handle adopting substantially the shape of a dental arch. By reason of the diverse morphologies existing a large number of them is required. The adjustable impression tray is characterised in that the horseshoe-shaped trough is divided into two equal movable parts 2 and 3 each corresponding to a right and left half-arch hinged at a central point of symmetry on a bolt 4 with the handle 1 and of which the tightening by a screw 5 or by a friction rivet allows the desired separation during taking of the impression to be obtained. This impression tray consequently allows considerable reduction in the number of impression trays usually necessary and facilitates the work of the practitioner.

Description

 The subject of the present invention is an impression tray r r ,, re designed to help the practitioner in his professional exercise.

The various morphologies require a large number of impression trays corresponding to the various dimensions encountered in the dental arches of the patients.

 The dental impression tray is in fact constituted by a metal U-shaped or rigid plastic gutter having substantially the shape of a dental arch, that is to say in horseshoe. This gutter can also be perforated or not, depending on the impression product used (plaster, alginate or other). It is provided with a handle for gripping. For a bottom impression the impression tray is a simple horseshoe gutter. For an impression from above, the gutter overflows on the internal csté so that the impression paste can also cover the palate and not only the dental arch.

 There are therefore many impression trays corresponding to the different dimensions encountered.

 In order to reduce the number of necessary impression trays this impression tray is characterized by the fact that it is adjustable and can adapt perfectly to any dental arch.

In fact the horseshoe gutter is divided into two independent symmetrical parts which can consequently be adjusted one and the other on demand on each half arch.

In accordance with the invention, the impression tray consists of three elements
The first element is the grip handle 1 the other two elements are two gutters and and which each correspond to a half arch, either a half left arch and a half right arch.

The three elements are articulated at a central point of symmetry using a bolt 4, the tightening of which by a nut 5 makes it possible to obtain the desired spacing of the two gutters when taking an impression.

it is thus possible to adapt the impression tray to any dimension of dental arch since the painted year varies at will the area of the gutters p, voting on the axis.

 Figure I is a schematic view of a bottom impression tray whose 3 elements, the handle 1 and the gutters 2 and 3 are shown separate. Each gutter has an orifice 6 located at the center of symmetry of the dental arch through which the bolt 4 is introduced. The handle t also has an orifice 7 into which the bolt 4 penetrates making it integral with the two gutters 2 and 3. (-t together constitutes the adjustable impression tray.

The two gutters 2 and 3 fixed on the bolt 4 are designed d. in such a way that they can pivot on the axis thus formed, the spacing of the U being provided accordingly since it fits slightly into one another.

 Figure 2 is a representation of "back" of a footprint for arch of the bottom. The handle 1 the bolt 4 and the two gutters 2 and 3.

 The gutters are represented perforated as are most of the impression trays currently used with alginates. The perforations used to retain the impression paste.

 FIG. 6 is a representation of the "back" of a warm taste for a right upper half arch of the internal edge of the groove widened so as to match the palatal flap 8.

FIG. 7 shows an impression tray from the top, the two palatal parts 8 a and 8 b which can slide one over the other, adapting to the dimensions of the dental arch concerned and of the palate.

 The adjustable impression tray therefore has a great advantage, because the handling is identical to the conventional impression tray on the one hand and on the other hand it is very easily adaptable to any arch. It is enough to apply a light pressure to adjust the two gutters so as to obtain the desired spacing.

 The nut 5 can be tightened so as to give a certain freedom of rotation of the gutters. It is also possible to provide a wing nut, which can be easily snapped off. Fig. 8 Or else a friction rivet.

 Cleaning and sterilization are fine. The manufacturing cost is minimal and is appreciably equal to a conventional impression tray.

Adjustable impression tray characterized by the fact that the horseshoe gutter that constitutes the impression tray is divided into two equal parts movable with respect to each other each corresponding to a half right arch and a half left arch.  2. Adjustable impression tray according to claim 1 characterized in that the two gutters 2 and 3 each corresponding to a right and left half arch are articulated in a center of symmetry on a bolt 4 whose tightening by a nut 5 makes it possible to obtain at will the desired spacing, depending on the dimensions of the arch.  3. Impression tray according to claim 2, characterized in that the bolt 4 and the nut 5 can also be replaced by a friction rivet, however, allowing rotation  4.
