Description

Serviette hygiénique comportant un écran incorporé.
La présente invention a pour objet une serviette hygiénique et notamment une serviette hygiénique comportant
une partie absorbante repliée à plusieurs couches.
On a constaté récemment que les serviettes hygié- niques munies de couches absorbantes contenant une matière thermoplastique présentent certains avantages vis-à-vis des serviettes hygiéniques qui n'utilisent en tant qu'élément
absorbant qu'une matière cellulosique classique La pré-
sence de la matière thermoplastique ajoute de l'élasticité
à l'élément absorbant et tend également à éviter l'affais-
sement des conduits capillaires de la matière cellulosique lorsque les deux matières sont mélangées Comme exemples
de brevets étudiant l'utilisation de matière thermoplasti-
que en liaison avec une matière cellulosique pour des ar-
ticles sanitaires, on peut citer: les brevets des E U A.
n 4 082 886 et 4 129 132 délivrés à George A M o Butter-
worth et associés, n 3 976 074 délivré à Harry G Fitzge-
rald et associés, n 4 o 054 141 délivré à Julius Schwaiger et associés, n 4 047 531 délivré à Hamzeh Karamin 3 545 441 délivré à Gunnar Gravdall et n 4 219 024 délivré à Donald
Patience et associés.
Les brevets ci-dessus décrivent également l'agen-
cement de serviettes hygiéniques avec des éléments absor-
bants à plusieurs couches.
Il a été établi récemment que les serviettes hy-
giéniques comportant des éléments absorbants à plusieurs couches dans lesquels les couches sont façonnées par pliage procurent un confort accru non seulement dans les zones pliées, mais aussi par accroissement de la résistance aux
déformations permanentes et de l'élasticité Ces caracté-
ristiques se manifestent de façon particulièrement forte
si des fibres thermoplastiques sont utilisées dans l'ensem-
ble de la garniture absorbante repliée Lorsqu'il y a des fibres thermoplastiques, la résistance aux déformations permanentes

par compression est accrue à cause de la présence de chaque pli individuel Compte tenu de ce qui précède, il est clair
qu'une serviette hygiénique comportant une garniture absor-
bante avec des fibres thermoplastiques repliée plusieurs fois sur ellemême doit être notablement plus confortable
qu'une serviette hygiénique ne présentant pas cette carac-
téristique.
Cependant, lorsqu'on utilise des fibres thermoplas-
tiques, il se produit généralement une diminution de la ca-
pacité globale d'absorption, en particulier si les fibres sont présentes en quantités suffisantes pour donner une
élasticité accrue.
L'invention a pour but d'éviter cet inconvénient et concerne à cet effet une serviette hygiénique du type ci-dessus caractérisé-en ce qu'elle comporte une garniture absorbante repliée vers l'intérieur le long de chaque bord longitudinal puis repliée à nouveau pour constituer trois couches absorbantes distinctes, une enveloppe perméable aux
fluides étant disposée sur la partie supérieure de la gar-
niture absorbante qui constitue la première couche et passant sur les parties repliées de l'ensemble à plusieurs couches formé avec la garniture absorbante La serviette hygiénique conforme à l'invention utilise un écran imperméable aux fluides dans toutes les zones situées entre la garniture absorbante et l'enveloppe à l'exception de la partie de la serviette hygiénique prévue pour venir contre le corps de
la personne qui la porte.
On va maintenant décrire l'invention plus en détail en se référant aux dessins annexés, dans lesquels: la Fig 1 est une vue en perspective et en coupe partielle d'une serviette hygiénique conforme à l'invention; la Fig 2 est une vue en coupe transversale suivant la
ligne 2 2 de la Fig l.
La serviette hygiénique représentée sur les figures
1 et 2 comporte une première garniture absorbante 14 compre-
nant une couche absorbante supérieure 14 a, une seconde couche

absorbante 14 b constituée par deux ailes de matière iden-
tiques formées par pliage suivant les plis 14 a' parallèle-
ment à l'axe longitudinal Une troisième couche absorbante 14 c présente deux ailes distinctes qui s'étendent sur les S ailes de la couche 14 b àla suite du pliage représenté en
14 b'.
La garniture absorbante 14 contient une matière thermoplastique qui donne une élasticité accrue par suite de la présence des couches multiples formées par les plis 14 a' et 14 b' Le pourcentage de matière thermoplastique peut
varier n'importe o dans cette couche de 10 à 100 %.
Dans l'exemple de réalisation particulier repré-
senté sur la Fig l et la Fig 2, il est prévu une couche
absorbante intermédiaire 15 Cette couche absorbante par-
ticulière est conçue pour avoir une capacité accrue par rapport à celle qu'on aurait avec la garniture absorbante 14 En raison du niveau d'élasticité particulièrement élevé du à la garniture absorbante 14, on n'a pas à prévoir une élasticité importante pour la couche intermédiaire 15 La couche 15 peut être réalisée en une matière absorbante
constituée par l'une quelconque de plusieurs matières ab-
sorbantes de capacité relativement élevée telles que la
bourre de pâte à papier ou une matière hautement absorbante.
Une matière d'utilisation particulièrement préférentielle
est la matière décrite dans le brevet des E U A N 04 372 312.
Il s'agit d'une feuille de micrdfibres soufflées à l'état fondu et traitées par un agent tensio-actif Cette feuille particulière est caractérisée par une capacité élevée d'absorption des fluides et peut être utilisée seule ou en combinaison avec de la bourre de pâte à papier hautement
absorbante ou une matière similaire.
Conformément à la Fig l, l'enveloppe 10 recouvre la couche 14 a de la garniture 14 et s'étend autour de chaque
pli 14 a' L'enveloppe 10 passe en outre sur la partie exté-
rieure, c'est-à-dire la partie inférieure de chacune des ailes qui forment la couche 14 b, sur chaque élément replié 14 c et se termine sur les extrémités intérieures de la
couche 14 c.

Un écran intérieur 22 est disposé entre l'enveloppe et la couche absorbante 14, à l'exception de la surface supérieure du tampon, au moins dans une zone correspondant
à la région périnéale dela personne qui porte la serviette.
L'écran intérieur ou écran incorporé 22 détermine des par-
cours d'écoulement de fluides le long des c 8 tés de la gar-
niture 14 pour réduire le plus possible les fluides ayant lieu à partir de cette garniture Cet écran sert aussi à former de parcours de retenue pour les fluides qui sont
captés, mais non retenus, par la couche 15.
L'écran peut être constitué en une matière ther-
moplastique classique quelconque connue dans la technique
et sa composition particulière ne fait pas l'objet de l'in-
vention Comme représenté sur la Fig l et la Fig 2, la matière de l'enveloppe 10 peut être liée aux couches 14 aux emplacements 11 par liaison de fusion par ultrasons ou par un procédé similaire pour accroître la capacité
de passage des fluides à travers la couche absorbante 14 a.
L'exemple de réalisation représenté sur la Fig l
et la Fig 2 comporte un second écran 16 ajouté pour accroi-
tre la stabilité de la structure de la serviette hygiénique
suivant cet exemple de réalisation préférentiel de l'in-
vention Comme on le voit clairement sur la Fig 2, l'écran 16 présente trois lignes adhésives 17 fixées sur lui et une doublure amovible pour l'adhésif des lignes 17 La
serviette hygiénique est scellée de façon classique à cha-
que extrémité par des moyens à ultra-sons Les zones de scellement sont représentées comme dégagées sur la matière 12 de l'enveloppe thermoplastique Ces zones forment des
pattes d'extrémité libres 13.
Une serviette hygiénique constituée conformément
à l'invention est fabriquée de préférence en formant con-
jointement par extrusion localisée l'écran en matière
thermoplastique sur une enveloppe non tissée Un tel pro-
cédé est décrit, par exemple, dans le brevet des E U A.
n 03 356 556 et ne fait pas l'objet de la présente invention.
_ L'écran peut bien entendu être découpé en bandes et fixé par adhésif ou lié séparément par fusion, suivant
des variantes de procédé La garniture 14 est alors posi-
tionnée de façon appropriée sur l'ensemble formé par 1 '6-
cran et l'enveloppe et le tout est replié deux fois le long de chaque bord de l'ensemble pour constituer la structure conforme à l'invention précédemment décrite Si l'on doit
utiliser une ou plusieurs couches absorbantes supplémentai-
res 15, ces couches sont bien entendu positionnées pendant
l'étape de pliage.
Les plis formant la troisième couche 14 c peuvent
être liés l'un à l'autre.

Claims (4)

REVENDICATIONS 2541892
1 Serviette hygiénique, de préférence alloncée présentant deux bords de pliage longitudinaux sensiblement
parallèles, caractérisée en ce qu'elle comporte en combi-
naison: a) une première garniture absorbante ( 14) contenant des fibres thermoplastiques et présentant trois couches à disposition horizontales qui comprennent: 1) une première couche ( 14 a) présentant une surface continue, 2) une seconde couche ( 14 b) présentant des ailes qui s'étendent vers l'intérieur en direction de l'axe longitudinal de la serviette et sont formées en repliant la première couche vers l'intérieur le long de chaque bord longitudinal, 3) une troisième couche ( 14 c) disposée entre
la première couche ( 14 a) et la seconde couche ( 14 b), présen-
tant des ailes qui recouvrent les ailes de la seconde couche s'étendant vers chaque bord longitudinal de la serviette à partir de son axe longitudinal, formées en repliant chaque aile de la seconde couche sur elle-même vers l'intérieur, ce pliage formant des plis dirigés vers l'intérieur et disposés à proximité l'un de l'autre au voisinage de l'axe longitudinal de la serviette, b) une enveloppe ( 10) perméable aux fluides recouvrant la première couche, la partie d'extrémité des plis qui forment les ailes ( 14 b) de la seconde couche et la partie extérieure des plis qui forment les ailes de la troisième couche ( 14 c) et se terminant aux extrémités de ces ailes de la troisième couche, c) un écran ( 22) imperméable aux fluides disposé entre l'enveloppe ( 10) et la garniture absorbante ( 14), à l'exception d'au moins la partie de l'enveloppe
recouvrant la partie centrale de la première couche.
2 Serviette hygiénique selon la revendication 1, caractérisée en ce que les plis formant la troisième

couche ( 14 c) sont liés l'un à l'autre.
3 Serviette hygiénique selon l'une quelconque des
revendications 1 et 2, caractérisée en ce qu'une seconde
garniture absorbante ( 15) est intercalée entre la première couche ( 14 a) et la troisième couche ( 14 c) de la première
garniture absorbante ( 14).
4 Serviette hygiénique selon l'une quelconque
des revendications 1 et 2, caractérisée en ce qu'un second
écran ( 16) imperméable aux fluides est fixé sur l'enveloppe ( 10) recouvrant les ailes de la seconde couche ( 14 b) et
le pli ( 14 b') de formation de la troisième couche ( 14 c).
Serviette hygiénique selon la revendication 1, caractérisée en ce que l'enveloppe ( 10) est, en des zones
espacées ( 11), liée par fusion à la première couche ( 14 a).
