Abstract

The intention is to simulate the movement of the ground in wind tunnel investigations at a sufficiently high speed to be used in simulations of projected vehicles at high Mach numbers using models. Additional aims are to guarantee high Reynolds numbers and to provide for studies involving the yaw, oscillation and pitch of models. The invention uses a special belt with longitudinal grooves which is subjected to a very high tension by tensioning rollers. The belt is mounted on a frame supported by a roller bearing with a vertical axis which provides for yawing. Application in the field of automobile and aircraft measurements.
