Abstract

This coffin is designed to preserve in good condition for a certain period the corpse which it contains while allowing it to be seen. To achieve this the corpse is placed in an airtight coffin in which the pressure is lowered to a greater or lesser degree. The body is held off the bottom by a wire net or by an absorbent layer C in order to avoid any contact with fluids which may escape. V is the valve through which the coffin is partially evacuated. The coffin is made wholly or partly out of a transparent material. Particularly recommended for public figures who after their decease are put on view for the public to pay their last respects.
