Abstract

The invention lies in the construction, economical in labour and material, of an item of furniture by the interleaving of sections with square surfaces which provide it with stability and ruggedness, facilitating the replacement of cross-pieces by a container useful for miscellaneous storage. This assembly, from the construction of a coffee table or of a cabinet in its simplest adaptations which would constitute the basic element, allows storing and shelving furniture to be obtained by superimposing these elements. The construction of a first element giving, by the adaptation of a panel, a coffee table, is configured as follows: the feet are provided by the base of a triangle 1 whose apex has a 90 DEG notch 2 formed in it and into which the 90 DEG apex of the upper triangle 3 fits. Two small planks are secured at one end into the notch of the base 4. They are clamped by the right angle of the upper triangle, the fixing of the assembly being provided by usual means. The opposite ends of these planks are secured in an identical manner to the parts constituting the second foot. These two planks form a container for storage purposes while ensuring a rigidity of the table which is greater than that obtained with a central cross-piece.
