Abstract

The automatic buckle is for fastening a helmet's chin strap. It has a male element (6), fixed to one part of the strap, that consists of 2 telescopic elements. An exterior cage (9), holds 2 balls (16), and an interior rod (8) has rounded notches (12,13) of different depths into which the balls fit. A spring, between the cage and the rod, pushes these apart so that the balls go into the shallower holes (13). The female element (7), joined to the other part of the strap, has two receiving holes (23) in its inner wall for lodging the balls and ensuring a locked position.
