DISPOSITIF t\QUATIQUF LOCOMOTEUR INDIVIDUEL
The present invention relates to an individual locomotor aquatic device used as a game or as a marine sport making it possible to propel oneself to the surface of the water by the sole means of the physical strength of its pilot.
We know devices capable of carrying a man and sliding on water. Such devices, in the form of a board, have no motor element. They are called "surf
Their movement is only imprinted by the sea current produced by the swell, the pilot using the slopes of the swell to acquire speed, its orientation being caused by the inflection that it gives on one edge or on the other. of this device
Such a device requires high sporting qualities on the part of the pilot. Their use is not without danger for those who are not sufficiently experienced and their use is only possible on seas subjected to a certain swell whose amplitude is large, as well as the wavelength, and which does not include any breakers
Other devices, having the same shape of a board, are known (they are the most numerous moreover) which use the motive force of the wind by means of a sail erected on a mast.
These devices are called "windsurfing boards". They have the advantage over the previous ones of being able to be used on all water surfaces. But they however require a certain address and an indisputable force to hold the sail, as well as a real knowledge of the maneuver of the sail, which does not make them accessible to all
The object of the present invention is to avoid these drawbacks by offering joys similar to those that can be experienced by propelling oneself individually on the water out of any boat without having any of the drawbacks described above. The aquatic locomotion device which is the subject of the invention does not use the driving force of the wind, but the very force of the pilot which is transmitted by means of a lever suitable for at least one immersed, freely articulated blade which plays the role of oar or scull. The speed of movement is obviously a function of the force deployed, but such a device is of interest even for the weakest forces, which thus find pleasure in propelling themselves on the water freely and without danger
For this, the device which is the subject of the invention, which also presents itself as a known type of seaboard, but of smaller dimensions, is provided below its submerged face with an articulated blade which the pilot can maneuver alternately. in the vertical median plane of the machine, in such a way that said blade disappears while being placed parallel to the machine when it is driven forward so as to oppose no resistance and automatically re-establishes its surface perpendicular to the direction of its displacement when it is drawn backwards thus taking support on the water which has the effect by reaction of propelling forward the floating craft which, by its volume, is capable of carrying its pilot
Such a machine can be used alone. It can also be used in pairs, each of the floats thus formed being able to be independent of one another or coupled in a mobile manner, parallel to each other @ The attached drawings, given by way of example only, show an embodiment of the subject of the invention
Figure 1 is a schematic view of the object of the invention shown in a pair of independent floats leun of the other
Figure 2 is a schematic view of the drive member
Figures 3 A and 3 B are schematic side elevational views of the object of the invention shown during two phases of the operation of its drive member
Figures 4 (A, B and C) are schematic plan views of pairs of floats according to the present invention showing, by way of nonlimiting examples, the connecting members allowing the twinning of two floats and ensuring their reciprocal mobility in two directions of space, by rotation or translation in the horizontal plane and by rotation in the vertical plane
Figure 5 is a schematic plan view, of details of an embodiment of the adjustment and locking in the adjusted position of the motor arm
As shown, the device which is the subject of the invention consists of the float 1 in the form of a profiled board, the volume of which allows the weight of the pilot to be carried, who can take a standing position in an area close to his center of gravity. 3, but slightly behind it so as to slightly gauge the machine
In front of this point 3 the machine comprises an arm 4 located in its vertical median plane and which crosses its surface right through at the level of the light 6, at which i! is articulated on the horizontal axis 5 which allows said arm 4 to oscillate in the vertical median plane already mentioned
The arm 4 thus articulated carries at its lower end under the surface of the water, and articulated on it in the same vertical median plane, a blade 7 of preferably trapezoidal shape developing downward. Said blade is articulated at 8 to its upper part so as to present almost all of its surface below said articulation 8 around which it can oscillate freely, This oscillation of the blade 7 is limited relative to the arm which carries it so that in the position therein comes to be in the extension of the arm 4 it is immobilized by its upper part which abuts on said arm 4, This upper part of the blade 7, which forms the stop 9 has a very small surface so as not to upset the spontaneous oscillation movement of the blade 7 during its movement controlled by the arm 4
It is therefore understood, according to Figures (3 A) and (3 B that the reciprocating movement of the arm 4 caused by the pilot of the craft standing on it will cause the blade 7 to take, by the sole effect of the resistance water on said blade, alternately the position (7 a) in the extension of the arm 4, when this is pushed towards the front of the float and the horizontal position (7 b) when said arm 4 is brought back 1 of the float
It is therefore understood that said blade 7 will play the role of oar resting on the water in its position (7a) which causes the advancement of the float, and freely returning to its initial position after being placed horizontally according to the position ( 7 b) without hampering the forward propulsion, previously acquired by the float during the first phase of this movement
Just as the driving blade 7 has at its upper part, beyond its axis of rotation 8, an extension 9 forming a stop when said blade is in the extension of the arm 4, likewise to facilitate and make it straighten faster, from its horizontal position, when the arm 4 is pushed forward, the end 10 of said blade 7 has an edge folded towards its face opposite to that which carries the axis of rotation 8, so that, when said blade is located horizontally, its end furthest from its axis of rotation 8 is pushed downwards, adding to its own weight, as soon as the pilot requests arm 4 towards the front of the float
The efficiency of this propulsion means obviously depends on the torque transmitted by the arm 4, therefore on the ratio of the levers that this comprises on either side of its axis of rotation 5
The pilot can therefore be led to vary this ratio, either to adjust it to his own strength, or to obtain a different yield from the craft according to different local or personal factors. * For this, article 5 arm 4 is integral with the sleeve 11 inside which the arm 4 can circulate freely, which makes it possible to vary the ratio of the levers that it constitutes on either side of the axis 5. a determined position can be obtained by any known means. By way of example, this locking of the arm 4 in the socket 11 can be obtained by means of the nut 12 provided with the operating lever 13, and situated at the upper end of the socket, above the upper plane of the float. , which allows to tighten the sleeve 11 which, being split at this level to be extensible, has a threaded conical shape, In this case the arm 4 carries a simple mark so that the pilot always maintains, during the adjustment of the arm 4 , the blade 7 in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the float
The arm 4 itself is telescopic at its upper part 25 so that its operating handle 26 is kept at a constant height regardless of the adjustment of the arm itself relative to the socket 11
According to another embodiment (fig. 5) the arm (4 b) can have an oval shape oriented in the direction of flow of the water, and circulating in a socket (11 b) of the same shape as said arm but comprising a horizontal plate 14 on which pivots the eccentric 15 maneuvered by the lever 16, said eccentric pushing the shoe 17 which blocks the arm 6 in the socket 11
Such a machine, which can be used alone, being able to carry the weight of its pilot, which can in this case be provided with a sail, can as well be used double, the pilot overlapping two in the manner of skis. This has the advantage of ensuring greater stability at the same time as ensuring almost continuous walking when the pilot alternately maneuvers the arm L ('each of the two floats he has put on
In this case the two floats can be free relative to each other (Figure 1) .But it can also be useful, to facilitate use and prevent them from untimely spreading, to move together in relation to each other
Such a connection may be constituted, according to FIGS. 4 (A, B and C) by a device which allows the joint articulation of the floats by rotation in the vertical plane and simultaneously their reciprocal displacement by parallel translation in the horizontal plane .According to one embodiment (fig. 4 A). this articulation is constituted by the guide i 8 formed of a plastic metal rod, outside the inner edge of one of the floats 4 of which it is integral by each of its ends and parallel to its axis. The associated float carries in this case the sleeve 19 which slides freely on the rod 18, in the horizontal plane, at the same time as it pivots around it in the vertical plane
According to another embodiment (fig.4 B), said articulation is obtained by means of two rigid metal or plastic plates, integral with the inner edge of each of the two associated floats, and the outer edge of which is rolled up to form together the articulated stapling 20, the two elements of which are capable of pivoting one on the other at the same time as sliding longitudinally into one another
According to yet another embodiment C fig.4 C) the coupling of the associated floats can be obtained by means of the straps 21 and 22 for example, located on either side of the transverse median of the floats, these straps allowing the reciprocal articulation of the floats in the vertical plane at the same time as their limited and reciprocal translation in the horizontal plane as well as a certain rotation in this same plane of one of the floats relative to the other, limited rotation by the length of said straps which can be extendable, which gives even more freedom in the reciprocal movements of the floats, while lunitating their spacing to a determined value necessary for a certain safety and for ease of piloting
Safety and ease of piloting are also obtained thanks to the presence of the arm 4 which each float comprises and which, independently of its motor function * ensures its lateral balance, the pilot being able to react on said arm in order to maintain in the vertical plane, just as vice versa it can be brought to tilt it out of the vertical plane to facilitate its developments other than in a straight line, this arm 4 therefore serves in fact both as a propulsion member and as a member stabilization and steering
In addition, each float is completed by the fin 23 and the stabilizing fin 24
The device being thus constituted, it is understood that an individual riding one or two floats can propel himself on the water by means of his only force by maneuvering the arm 4 cru'lu will alternately push from back to front and vice versa, propulsion thus obtained having a certain continuity when two floats are simultaneously used.
It can even be propelled, when it straddles two floats, without using the arms 4, by the only alternating thrust of the floats maneuvered in this case in the manner of cross-country skiers. Indeed, the only sliding of a float on the water will cause the automatic erasure of the blade horizontally from the float sliding forward, this movement resting on the other float whose blade will instead automatically vertical position, which will temporarily immobilize it, In this case the blade 7 may not be articulated on the arm 4, but directly on the underside of the float I, the arm in this case only serving for stabilization or direction
The device may be supplemented by a return spring, not shown, of the arm 4 intended to keep it in the rear position, that is to say at the start of the driving phase.
Similarly, marks of any kind can be worn on the arm 4 so as to facilitate knowledge of its submerged length and to maintain the symmetry of the adjustment in the simultaneous use of two floats
Finally adjustable stops' 5 (fig.4 A) can be installed on the rod 18 of articulation of the two floats, on either side of the sleeve 19, so as to limit the movement of horizontal translation according to the capacities of the user
It is understood that the invention is not limited to Irex- ample or to the examples which have been given thereof, any variant, considered as equivalence, which cannot modify its scope.
The invention can be used as a means of sport and leisure
