Abstract

The electric heater has inlet and outlet pipes (5,6) and a reservoir holding the water in which are immersed at least two heating elements (3,4). The inlet and outlet pipes are both situated at the same end of the reservoir,. A wall (13) divides the reservoir space into upper and lower zones, which are connected only by a passage (16) at the opposite end of the reservoir to the inlet and outlet pipes. The heating elements are mounted one in the upper zone and one in the lower zone. This arrangement reduces the cooling effect of inlet water on the outlet water by delaying their mixing. The wall may be curved or perforated.
