Abstract

The unit can be mounted high in the room, facing downwards. An electric resistance heating element is enclosed in a tubular sleeve which defines a closed air circulation path. The circulating air is driven by a fan (4), and provides even heating of the walls of the tube to disperse the surface intensity of the heating, giving a more comfortable room heat. The tube (1) is formed in a 'U' shape and mounted high in the room. The resistance heating element (3) is fitted in one side of the 'U', heating air which circulates round the remainder of the tube, the path being closed by a flexible coupling (5) spanning the open ends of the 'U'.

Description

The present invention relates to electrical devices intended to be fixed at an appropriate height above the ground in order to radiate the heating of premises such as workshops, meeting rooms and other similar spaces.

We know that in their classic form, devices of this kind generally include a reflector below which an apparent electrical resistance is arranged, feeds so as to blush to emit infrared radiation which the above-mentioned deflector concentrates downwards. Experience has shown that if such a heating method is indisputably effective, it nevertheless has two very significant drawbacks, one relating to the practically zero thermal flywheel of these devices, the other to the physiological discomfort caused by infrared radiation on the occupants of the room in question.

It is these drawbacks that the present invention intends to remedy, and this With the aid of a new heater essentially remarkable in that the heat source constituted by one or more electrical resistors is mounted inside a tubular element arranged so as to determine a firm circuit traversed by the air discharged by a fan inserted in said circuit.

It is understood that the permanent circulation of air inside the tubular element makes it possible to obtain a perfectly homogeneous diffusion of the heat, so that from the physiological point of view the radiation emitted is much "softer and consequently In addition, the mass of this tubular element ensures the creation of a thermal flywheel amply sufficient to allow regulation of the resistance by all or nothing power.

The appended drawing, given by way of example, will allow a better understanding of the invention, the characteristics which it senses and the advantages which it is likely to provide.
Fig. l is a plan view with parts broken away, showing the general arrangement of the heating member of an apparatus established in accordance with the invention.

Fig. 2 is a schematic cross section of this device.

The device shown comprises a metal tube 1, advantageously made of relatively thick steel, conforming by folding so as to have two rectilinear portions connected to one another by a loop. One end of this tube 1 is in the form of a case 2 intended for the fixing and connection of an electrical resistance 3, itself in the form of a pin so as to be heard in the one of the two rectilinear portions mentioned above. The opposite end is introduced into the axial suction opening of a small electric fan 4, the delivery pipe of which is connected by a cuff 5 to a transverse branch 6 provided on the tube 1 immediately after the boot 2.

The heating element thus formed is surmounted, in the usual way, by a reflector or convector 7 in polished metal, have in cross section a V-shaped profile open towards the aforementioned member in order to return yers down the radiation sown by it. This reflector 7 is suitably heat-insulated and it can receive any surface treatment in order to improve its radiation characteristics.

The fan 4 is connected to the same electrical supply circuit as the resistor 3, so that it starts operating as soon as the said resistor is energized. The closed enclosure constituted by the tube 1, the fan 4, the cuff 5 and the bypass 6 is thus continuously traversed by a current of air which ensures the homogeneous dissipation of the heat released by the resistor 3, so that c 'is the whole of the aforementioned enclosure which delivers a caloric radiation returned downwards by the reflector 7. The mass of this enclosure has considerable inertia, and it is therefore possible to obtain a continuous emission of heat while controlling the resistance and the fan by an all-or-nothing power supply, regulated by a room thermostat or equivalent equipment.

It should moreover be understood that the foregoing description has been given only by way of example, and that it in no way limits the field of the invention from which one would not depart by replacing the details of execution described by all other equivalents. It is understood in particular that the enclosure is capable of being constituted by a series of rectilinear tubes connected to each other by elbow fittings, said enclosure being moreover capable of receiving several electric resistances suitably spaced from one another.
