Abstract

The heated type press for mounting photographs applies pressure from a fluid in a flexible pocket covering the work. Normal mains supply water is used as the working fluid. The press uses a partial vacuum caused by evacuation by siphoning of the working fluid for opening purposes. There are two bending resistant pads (1,2) in an envelope (3). The lower pad includes a heater (5) and a tank (4) is fixed below the upper pad. The photograph is placed on a slide which is introduced between pads.

Description

The present invention relates to a press intended for press bonding thin rphotographiea objects, decorative elements on canvas or other supports, to obtain relief effects.

The presses used to date for these operations have a tightening production system either mechanical by eccentric, screw or other, or by high pressure hydraulic cylinder. All these systems generate localized forces on the movable plate, forces which must then be perfectly distributed over the entire surface. The plate must therefore be resistant to bending, perfectly rigid and precision machined. The relief effect is obtained by interposing a flexible element between the structure and it.

The object of the invention is a clamping system which uses a flexible hollow element occupying the entire surface to be pressed and applied directly to the work to be produced by a fluid at a relatively low pressure, for example water from the distribution network.

The mobile part is very light, loosening can also be obtained by evacuating the fluid by a siphon circuit or by the use of a pump.

As a result, the rigidity and precision of machining become secondary and the construction of the assembly is much simpler.

The inventor's preferred arrangement is specified in FIG. I.

The structure is composed of two bed bases I and 2 resistant to bending, for example in welded construction, placed in an envelope, 3, absorbing the pressing force and giving the external appearance of the device.

The structure to be produced is placed in a drawer, 8, composed below a heat conducting plate and, above, a very flexible elastomer plate intended on the one hand to protect the structure during manipulations and secondly to follow the relief finely during bonding.

A thermal insulator, attached to the tank, helps keep the structure at the correct temperature.

The evacuation orifice, 7, being lower than the pressing tank, 4,1'evacuation of the working fluid ends in a depression of the reservoir, 4, which causes the effective opening of the press.

The item is placed between the two elements of the drawer, 8, which is introduced into the machine.

The pressurized fluid is admitted and the heating, 5, if any, put into service.

This structure lends itself easily to the automation of the device because the working fluid can also be implemented by a set of valves controlled by a pressure contact.

This device can be used for other works requiring a park effort distributed on an irregular surface splastification of documents, veneers and various collages.

The provisions may vary depending on the jobs listed above.
