Abstract

A string is held between a bracket and a tensioner key on a chassis plate. A propeller blade is mounted on a shaft running in bearings in a support fixed to the chassis. A dc motor with a voltage controlled variable speed controller drives the propeller shaft so that the blades strike the string and another string parallel to it and supported on a rigid plate. This is supported by a flexible arm fixed to the chassis. This plate can move between stops. Microphones are located close to the strings to pick-up their sounds as the blades strike the strings. The notes are varied by contacting the strings with the index finger placed on the string adjacent to the bracket.

Description

INSTRUMENTS DE MUSTQUE ELECTRIQUE DE PERCUSSION. ELECTRICAL PERCUSSION INSTRUMENTS.

POLYPHONIQUE. POLYPHONIC.

b) The present invention relates to electric musical instruments requiring the use of a guitar amplifier. Although it is a percussion instrument, its closest family is the guitar.

c) Cette invention est entièrement originale, en dehors du système de la corde amplifiée par micro emprunté à la guitare électrique. c) This invention is entirely original, apart from the system of the microphone amplified string borrowed from the electric guitar.

The invention is based on the principle of a propeller with two flexible blades, one of which is shorter than the other.

The propeller shaft is parallel to one or more ropes mounted fixed or on movable supports. These strings are at a minimum distance greater than the radius x 'of the propeller. When a rope is brought closer to a distance smaller than x 'and larger than x, the blade of radius x' comes into contact with the rope: therefore, for a complete turn of the propeller, only one contact.

When this same rope is brought closer to a distance smaller than x, the blade of the x-ray comes into contact with the rope and for a complete turn of the propeller, the two blades come into contact.

So, by moving a string more or less, so that it comes into contact or not with the blade of the x-ray or that of the x-ray, we obtain at will no or one or two contacts with more or less darkens (depending on the more or less significant displacement that the rope is made to come into contact with the blades)
The rope is smothered by foam and felt at its end opposite the propeller, and its vibration at each contact is picked up by a microphone (winding microphone for iron rope). The sound obtained after amplification is a percussion sound similar to tabla, darbouka, drum tome, etc ... depending on the tension of the string or its size.

Le dessin 3/3 représente les manoeuvres d'utilisation. e) The attached drawing 1/3 is the diagram of the invention with 2 strings, propeller with 2 blades. Drawings 2/3: Fig 1 is the diagram of the propeller or from the front to understand the difference in radii; Fig 2, front view drawing of a rope striker which can replace the propeller. Drawing 3/3 shows the maneuvers of use.

As shown, the stereo invention consists of a general plate 4 on which a string 1 is stretched between the bridge 15 and the guitar type key 10.

The propeller 5-6 is mounted on the shaft 17 resting on cushions or bearings.

The bearings are fixedly mounted on the support 12 integral with the plate 14; a variable speed direct current motor 7, by variator, voltage electronics, drives the shaft.

The second rope is mounted symmetrically (for synchronization) parallel and at a minimum distance greater than x '. It is fixed on a rigid plate 18 and stretched between the bridge 15 and the guitar type key 10. This plate is connected to the main plate 14 by a flexible support which only allows movement towards the stop screw 4 and its return to the stop screw 3; the stop screw 3 being adjusted, of course at a minimum distance greater than x 'and the screw 4 adjusted, for its part, depending on the desired contact or percussion intensity with the blades 5-6.

The maneuver of the plate 18 can be carried out manually directly by pressing it. It is also possible to bring a piece 19 integral with the plate and shifting the fulcrum towards the bottom string facilitating the technique of the game. It can also be moved electromagnetically with electrical contact on the board (in region 20 - Plate 1 / 3).

The maneuver to establish contact with the string 1 consists in lifting the string with the fat of the index finger as close as possible to the bridge; its tension can be varied with the left hand and at the same time establishing contact of the cord 2 with the index finger of this left hand by pressing on location 20 (PL.3 / 3).

The microphones 8 are mounted as close as possible to the strings as a function of the displacement thereof. They are fixed on the support 16 and secured to the plate by means of the foam plates 11, the whole fixed by gluing. The foam plates isolate the microphones from the mechanical vibrations of the engine and its transmission.

The signal from the 2 microphones can be recovered separately stereophonically or mixed as a monophonic signal.

9) The invention takes its place in electric musical instruments. It can be used in any orchestra or as a solo instrument.
