Abstract

WASTE BASKET, OF THE TYPE INCLUDING A SUPPORT 1, A RECEIVING BASKET 2 AGENCY TO BE REMOVABLE MOUNTED ON THE SUPPORT, AND A LID 3 FOR THIS BASKET, MOUNTED WITH ROTATION AROUND AN AXIS BETWEEN A CLOSED POSITION WHERE IT PREVENTS THE WITHDRAWAL OF THE BASKET FROM ITS HOLDER AND AN OPEN POSITION WHERE IT ALLOWS THIS REMOVAL, CHARACTERIZED BY THE FACT THAT THE LID CONTAINS AT LEAST ONE PROJECTION 25 LIKELY TO COOPERATE WITH A BLADE SPRING FIXED WITH RESPECT TO THE ROTATION AXLE, THE PROJECT THE BLADE SPRING BEING CONFORMED SO THAT THE SPRING IS NOT TENSIONED IN THE CLOSED POSITION OF THE COVER AND KEEPING THE COVER IN ITS POSITION WHEN IT IS IN THE OPEN POSITION.

Description

-1- The present invention relates to a wastepaper basket and more

  particularly such a basket of the type comprising a support, a receiving basket arranged to be removably mounted on the support and a cover for said basket mounted to rotate about an axis between a closed position where it prevents the basket from being removed from its support and an open position where it

allows this withdrawal.

  In wastepaper baskets of this type known a provision

  locking device keeps the cover in its

  closed position against the action of a spring which in this po-

  sition is in permanent tension. This results in permanent deformation of the cover when the wastepaper basket is made of plastic. On the other hand because of its deformations, the unlocked cover does not remain raised and therefore obstructs

  removing the basket from its support.

  The object of the present invention is in particular to remedy these drawbacks. 1 For this purpose the invention relates to a wastepaper basket of the type recalled above characterized in that said cover comprises at least one projection capable of cooperating with a leaf spring fixed relative to the axis of rotation the projection and the leaf spring being shaped so that the spring is not in tension in the closed position of the cover and that it keeps the cover in its position when it is in

open position.

  In a preferred embodiment of the invention said leaf spring is substantially perpendicular to the axis of rotation, and is folded to form an inclined plane cooperating with a ramp formed by the projection to constrain the spring during the rotational movement of the cover towards its open position, and a shoulder cooperating with a bearing surface formed by the projection to keep the cover open after a return of the

  Advantageously the axis of rotation and the leaf spring

  are mounted on the receiver basket support.

  The present invention also aims to provide a cor-

  paper canister whose cover can only be removed in

open position.

  To this end the invention also relates to a cor-

  that the axis of rotation is engaged in at least one support bearing and carries at least one bearing formed in the cover, locking means being provided to prevent axial movement of the axis of rotation in these bearings when the cover is in the closed position and to allow this movement when the cover is in

open position.

  This arrangement therefore allows rapid removal of the cover without any accessory other than the cover unlocking key. Preferably said locking means comprise a rib formed on the axis of rotation along one of its generatrices and a groove formed on the inner surface of each of the bearings along one of their generatrices, the axial length of said rib being greater than the distance between the two bearings and the two grooves being opposite in position

open the cover.

  The shaft can therefore be engaged in or removed from its bearings when the cover is in the open position. On the other hand, when the cover is in the closed position the grooves are no longer facing each other so that the rib can be engaged in only one of these grooves and that the axis cannot be removed. Preferably the rib of the axis of rotation is arranged to be, in the operating position, engaged in the groove of the

cover bearing.

  By this arrangement the axis is rotated with the cover. Thus it suffices to remove it from imparting an axial movement to it since the rib automatically returns opposite the groove of the support bearing when the cover is

brought to the open position.

  It is also possible to provide elastic means capable of maintaining the axis of rotation in the operating position when

  the cover is in the open position.

  This arrangement avoids involuntary withdrawal of the axis of rotation when the cover is in its open position. These elastic means may comprise a protrusion mounted elastically radially, integral with the axis of rotation cooperating with an annular groove formed at the periphery of a

  coaxial boss on the support bearing.

  Preferably the support bearing is formed on the

receiver basket support.

  It has also been noted in known plastic wastebaskets that the basket flexes in use due to the lack of support at their lower part. In addition, it is generally difficult to put the basket back on its support because this manipulation is carried out without being able to see

the attachment means.

  The present invention also aims to overcome these in-

  suitable for this purpose is a wastepaper basket of the type comprising a support and a receiving basket arranged to be removably mounted on the support, characterized in that the support comprises support means for supporting the basket at its lower part and blocking means at its part

  As shown in Figure 1 the wastebasket according to

  the invention essentially comprises a support 1, a basket receiving

  tor 2 and a cover 3 as well as a rotation axis 4 for the cover. These four basic elements are for example made in

  molded plastic which has the advantage of simplicity

  cited and relatively low cost.

a better clarity of the drawing.

  The basket 2 has at its lower part a set of means 5 capable of cooperating with support means 6

  formed at the bottom of the support 1.

  Furthermore, the cover 3 is arranged to block the basket 2 on the support 1 when it is in the closed position as

this will be described below.

  In addition holding means 7 fixed to the basket 2 are provided to cooperate with a member 8 which here has the

support rib 6.

  This support essentially comprises a central part in the form of a beam 9 comprising means of all known types

  for fixing it, for example on a wall or a post.

  The central part 9 receives at its lower part the

  aforementioned holding means 6 and at its upper part of the

  10 yen for receiving the cover 3 which will be described later

detail below.

  The holding means 6 essentially comprise two horizontal fingers 11 arranged on either side of the vertical plane of symmetry of the support 1 as well as a wedge-shaped part 12

  forming on its front face an inclined plane 13.

  The means 5 of the basket 2 comprise for their part two ribs 14 in which are provided notches 15 arranged to receive the fingers 11 as is in particular

shown in figure 2.

  The means 5 also include a wedge-shaped groove 16 of shape complementary to that of the part 12 of the support

  The hook 17 is arranged at a height such that when the notches 15 are placed in abutment on the fingers 11 the rib 8 of the support 1 can be engaged between the hook 17 and the rib 18. This engagement can be done when the notches 15 are resting on the fingers 11 by rotation of the basket 2 around its fingers and sliding of the upper edge of the rib 8 on

  the lower edge 19 of the hook 17.

  FIG. 5 shows that when the basket 2 is in its normal position the rib 18 prevents the rib 8 from disengaging from the hook 17. It is only after a slight pivoting of the basket 2 forwards, pivoting authorized by the lifting of the cover 3 as explained below, that the rib 18 releases the rib 8 allowing the latter to disengage from the hook 17 by

basket lift 2.

  The support means 10 of the neck will now be described.

  ring 3 on the support 1 in particular with reference to FIGS. 5 and 6. The support 1 has two bearings 20 and the cover 3 has two bearings 21 for the axis 4. These bearings will be described in more detail below and allow the pivoting of the cover 3 relative to support 1 and therefore relative to basket 2

attached to it.

  On the support 1 are riveted two leaf springs 22 which are folded twice to first form an inclined plane 23 to

  their free end and then a shoulder 24 (Figure 53.

  The cover 3 has for its part a projection 25 substantially in the form of a wedge to form a ramp 26 in its part

  lower and a bearing surface 27 at its upper part (fig.

re 6).

  The spring 22 and the projection 25 are arranged so that in the closed position of the cover (Figure 5) as in the open position

  (Figure 6) the spring 22 is not in a state of stress.

  We note on the other hand that, during the opening-of the

  circle 3, the ramp 26 cooperates with the inclined plane 23 to con-

  trace the spring to the left of the figures, then that, when the cover is brought into its fully open position in FIG. 6, the spring 22 returns to its initial position so that the shoulder 24 comes into contact with the bearing surface 27 for

  keep the cover in the open position.

  On the other hand during the closing movement of the

  -7- circle 3 the bearing surface 27 cooperates with the shoulder 24 to again force the spring outwards so that it

  may later resume the position shown in figure

gure 5.

  The cover 3 also comprises, for example at its front part, a lock making it possible to lock it in position

closed on basket 2.

  It can thus be seen that when the cover is folded back into its closed position and locked on the basket 2, the latter is blocked upwards so that the fingers 11 cannot get

clear ribs 15.

  In addition, a peripheral rib 28 of the cover cooperates with the edge 29 of the basket to center the latter and prevent it from tilting forwards as shown in FIGS. 2 and 5. Thus in this position, assuming that one attempts to force the basket 2 upwards to release the support means, the rib 18 blocks the rib 8 to prevent this movement. It is only when the cover 3 is open that the basket 2 can adopt the position taken in FIGS. 4 and 6 in which the rib 18

  releases rib 8 and allows upward movement.

  It is therefore found that the cover 3 constitutes a locking means which allows when closed to subject

basket 2 on support 1.

  Furthermore in this position the springs 22 are in an unstressed state so that they do not force on the projections 2

  and do not cause permanent deformation thereof.

  As shown in Figure 1 and Figures 7 to 12 the axis 4 has a rib 30 formed on its outer surface along

one of its generators.

  Correspondingly, the bearings 20 of the support 1 have a groove 31 in which the rib 30 is capable of sliding and which is formed on their inner surface along

from one of their generators.

  Similarly, as shown in FIGS. 9 and 10, the bearings 21 of the cover 3 include similar grooves 32 in which

can slide the rib 30.

  The grooves 31 and 32 are formed in the bearings 20 and 21 so that when the cover is in the open position (Figures 7, 9 and 11) the grooves are in alignment with each other and that the axis 4 can be engaged in these bearings by a -8-

  simple axial translation movement.

  Furthermore, the rib 30 has an axial length greater than

  smaller than the distance between the bearings 20 and 21 as can be seen in FIG. 11 and it is arranged axially so that when the axis 4 is in the operating position (FIG. 12) it is no longer engaged in the groove 31 of the bearing 20 but

  it is still engaged in the groove 32 of the bearing 21.

  As a result, as shown in FIGS. 8, 10 and 12, when the cover is in the closed position the axis 4 cannot

be removed.

  On the other hand, when the cover is brought into the open position as shown in FIGS. 7, 9 and hi. The rib 30 is brought automatically by the groove 32 opposite the groove 31

  so that axis 4 can be removed.

  We also note that thanks to this arrangement, the axis 4 is reversible, that is to say that it can be mounted in one direction or

in the other.

  Thanks to the aforementioned lock, the cover cannot

  be removed only in the open position so that it suffices to

  use the key to this lock to operate all the necessary maneuvers. Finally elastic means are provided to maintain the axis 4 in its operating position of FIG. 12 when

  the cover is in the open position.

  These means include a projection 33 disposed at the ex-

  free end of an elastic rod 34, the other end of which is

attached to axis 4.

  This projection is arranged to cooperate with one or the other of the grooves 35 formed on the outer surface of the bearings 20 which thus form bosses projecting from the support h. The projection 33 has at its front part an inclined surface so that it deviates from itself radially when

  the axis 4 is put in place and that it thus engages in the groove 35.

  The invention is of course not limited to the embodiments described above to which all modifications and variants can be made without departing from the scope

of the invention.

Claims (3)

  1. Wastepaper basket, of the type comprising a support 1, a receiving basket 2 arranged to be removably mounted   on the support, and a cover 3 for said basket, rotatably mounted   tion around an axis between a closed position o it prevents the removal of the basket from its support and an open position o it allows this removal, characterized in that said cover has at least one projection 25 capable of cooperating with a spring to blade fixed relative to the axis of rotation, the projection and the leaf spring being shaped so that the spring is not in tension in the closed position of the cover and that it keeps the cover in its position when it is in the open position.   2. Wastepaper basket according to claim 1, charac-   terrified by the fact that said leaf spring 22 is substantially perpendicular to the axis of rotation, and is folded to form an inclined plane 23 cooperating with a ramp 26 formed by the projection to constrain the spring during the movement of rotation of the cover towards its open position, and a shoulder 24 cooperating with a bearing surface 27 formed by the projection to keep the cover open after a return of the spring in a less stressed state.   3. Wastepaper basket according to any one of the resales   dications 1 and 2, characterized in that the axis of rotation   and the leaf spring are mounted on the support of the receiving basket tor.
