Abstract

A plant installation for the purificn. of waste water by simultaneous aeration and agitation, provision being made for pumped extn. or sludge from the base of the treatment vessel. The vessel contains a vertical, freely rotatable riser pipe. Near the lower end of the riser pipe, two symmetrically opposed, radial, perforated suction pipes are joined into the riser pipe. Above the level of liq. in the vessel, two symmetrically deposed, radial discharge pipes are joined into the rise pipe. The common axis of discharge pipes is at right angles to the common axis of the suction pipes. Pref. the riser pipe is rotatable between a foot step rearing in the base of the vessel and a steady bearing fixed centrally on the underside of the vessel cover. The footstip bearing is pref. pierced to allow settled sludge to be sucked up the riser pipe by a tube passed down the riser through the steady bearing. The discharge pipes are formed to rotate the riser pipe etc. by reaction propulsion as fluid is discharged. The installation is for aerating and agitating waste water and for periodically pumping out excess sludge. The design is simple and inexpensive. All motive power can be provided by a simple air pump.
