Abstract

A holder for glass ampoules to be filled under vacuum is made in the form of an open-topped box of which at least two opposing sides are convergent towards the top so that the rim of the box is a sprung fit against a load of ampoules to hold them in place. For holders for crystallisation purposes, the holder is pref. made from a panel of expanded propylene copolymer produced as extruded sheet and suitably creased, folded and welded to stabilise the shape and seal the cut edges of the panel. The holder may have a polygonal or circular base, to resemble a truncated pyramid or cone, with low level openings to drain away any superficial condensate.
