Abstract

Basket consists of elongate elements connected by transverse members which have openings through or into which the elements extend. Each element is pref. a ring or there is a single element forming turns passing through the openings with an interference fit. The arrangement allows elements and members of different colours to be used so that each basket is easily recognisable. A sheet of transparent or translucent plastics may be attached over the basket to form a cloche and the element(s) may be hollow and have a row of small apertures so that water can be sprayed internally of the cloche. The basket is e.g. of high-density polyethylene.

1.- Basket comprising a plurality of elongated elements (10-14) and a plurality of transverse elements (16) each extending transversely to the direction of the length of said elongated elements (10-14) and connecting the latter , characterized in that said transverse elements (16) are provided with openings, while said elongated elements (10-14) engage in or pass through said openings.

2.- Basket according to claim 1, characterized in that the elongated elements (10-14) are spaced from each other.

3.- Basket according to claim 2, characterized in that the elongated elements each form a closed loop.

4.- Basket according to claim 2, characterized in that the elongate elements each have an annular shape

5.- Basket according to claim 1, characterized enoe that the elongate elements (i0-14) are integral with each other so as to form a single elongated member which passes through all the openings formed respectively in said transerval elements (16).

6.- Basket according to any one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the elongate elements are mounted with hard friction in said openings, and in that the displacement of at least some of the elongate elements with respect to the transverse elements is prevented by friction only.

7.- Method of manufacturing a basket, in which there is a plurality of transverse elements around an axis, so as to space them apart from each other, and at least one elongated element is mounted on all of the aforementioned transverse elements such that said elongated element surrounds said axis and connects the transverse elements to each other, characterized in that a plurality of openings are provided in each transverse element, before said elongated element is put into place, and in that the elongate element is successively introduced into the respective openings of the transverse elements until the elongate element surrounds said axis.

8.- A method of manufacturing a plurality of baskets according to claim 7, wherein said baskets are distinguished lobster traps, characterized in that one uses, for the different traps, elements of similar shape and location that have different colors.

9.- Lobster trap comprising a plurality of elongated elements and a plurality of transverse elements extending transversely with respect to the lengthwise direction of the elongated elements and connecting them to each other, characterized in that at at least two of the transverse elements have different colors.

10.- Basket according to any one of claims 1 to 6, forming a lobster trap according to claim 9, characterized in that the elongated elements consist of tubes provided, in their wall, with openings having small dimensions relative to the diameter of the tubes and used to allow the penetration of water into the tubes.
