Abstract

The coupling ring is fitted to the connector using force and locks itself into a retaining groove without supplementary parts and offering a lower cost. The connector body (20) and the coupling ring are made of a rigid plastics such as TORLON (RTM), the connector having several contact pins (40). The coupling ring (10) is tubular with an annular internal rim (11) and an internal thread (15) to mate with the other part of the connector. On the connector body are two shoulders (21,22) with plane facing edges, but one shoulder having a sloped outer edge. The coupling ring is held by its rim between the two shoulders but is free to rotate. The rim is pressed against the rear shoulder of the connector by a corrugated washer (30) mounted between the rim and the front shoulder. The connector body is produced as a single piece moulding.

The present invention relates to an electrical connector assembly of the type which comprises a first housing in which is mounted a series of electrical contacts and which is arranged to be able to be assembled with a second case in which is mounted a series of electrical contacts designed for mate with the contacts contained in the first shoemaker and a coupling member which is used to assemble the two shoemakers together.
