Abstract

The cable sleeve is provided with a coiled draw wire to facilitate the drawing of cable bundles through the sleeve. The draw wire may be arranged in a variety of ways to be longer than the sleeve when drawn out. The draw wire runs the full length of the sleeve, and may be compressed to a sinusoidal profile along one edge of the sleeve, or may be in a helical profile around the wall of the sleeve. Alternatively flat strip in various shapes may be manufactured from plastic or metal, and will be non-flammable, possibly with a glass string incorporated for tensile strength. Pref. the draw wire overlaps the end of the cable.

Description

The present invention relates to a new presentation of sheaths such as those which have been used for example to protect bundles of electric cables.

The object of the invention is to allow the easy introduction into the sheath of a bundle of electrical targets for example. When one wishes to sheath a cable bundle, one proceeds in the majority of cases by direct introduction of the bundle into the sheath according to the technique of the lace pass; sometimes, when the bundle, because of its size with respect to the sheath, cannot be introduced according to the preceding technique, a cable puller is used which is first passed through the sheath; the bundle is then attached to the cable puller and the traction of the latter using the cable puller facilitates its introduction into the sheath.

It will be noted that both of these methods are very long and it is precisely the aim of the invention to reduce this time of introduction of the beam into the sheath.

According to the present invention, a sheath such as intended for the sheathing of cables or bundles of electric cables or other, is characterized in its generality in that, in the state where said sheath is delivered to the user, it is internally fitted with a cable puller.

The cable puller is preferably incorporated into the sheath during its manufacture, for example during its braiding if it is a braided sheath, or again for example during its extrusion if it 'is an extruded plastic sheath.

The length of the cable puller is slightly greater than that of the sheath; the cable puller may have, for example inside the sheath, a substantially sinusoidal or more or less regular shape; the cable puller will preferably exceed the ends of the sheath and it can be tied on the latter. So when the user wishes to pass a bundle of cables in a certain length of sheath, he will cut this length on the coil, the skein or crown, taking care to let the cable puller come out at the ends formed by the cut-out, it will then secure one end of the cable puller to one end of the cable and will thus be able to pull, as was known in the manner of proceeding previously, the cable inside the sheath.

Advantageously, the cable puller may be in the form of a flat woven or braided ribbon, a flat ribbon of the "Bolduc" type, a twisted or braided round cord, one or more hairs made of extruded plastic. , and in general of any wire, ribbon or assembly of wires, whatever its nature, shape or mode of assembly; thus the cable puller can be made wholly or partly of wires or filaments made of natural or synthetic material, non-combustible or non-fusible, and / or of metal wires; an advantageous form of the cable puller may in particular result from the association of a ribbon of the "Bolduc" type and a metal wire.

La fig. 1 illustre une extrémité d'une gaine tressée relevant de l'invention ;
La fig. 2 est une illustration a plus grande échelle d'une autre variante de gaine conforme à l'invention ;
The present invention will be better understood and details will be apparent from the description which will be given in relation to the figures of the appended plates in which
Fig. 1 illustrates one end of a braided sheath according to the invention;
Fig. 2 is an illustration on a larger scale of another variant of sheath according to the invention;
Fig. 3 is an enlarged view of a particular embodiment of a cable puller suitable for the variant of FIG. 2.

In Figure 1 a piece of braided sheath 1 internally comprises a cable puller; obviously it should be understood that the invention is characterized by the presence of the cable puller inside the sheath in the state, and whatever it is, coil, bundle, crown, in which it is delivered to the user.

In Figure 2 a sheath 3 of a type that: woven conch, braided, ettrdé or other, odorlessly internally a cable puller 4 arranged in a helical, or spiral, arrangement which allows the cable puller to keep its equil - distribution in the sheath.

In fig. 3 a cable puller 5 protrudes at the end of a sheath 6; the cable puller 5 is made up of a bolduc 7 and a wire 8, both assembled and covered with a film of "cellophane" 9 (registered trademark); thanks to the wire 8 of iron or steel, the cable puller will be less likely to be cut at the same time as the sheath. A substantially similar result could be obtained using a glass cable such as braided or twisted.

It should be understood that the present invention does not relate to the process consisting in making a cable puller in a sheath for pulling the cable therein, but the sheath provided, upon delivery to the user of his cable puller whatever the form or structure thereof, as specified in the claims which follow.
