Abstract

The slats of a bed base are fixed movably onto end blocks made of flexible material and forming part of long bars (2) of U-shaped (2a) cross section. Profiled supports are (1) laid flat to fit between the ends of the slats (3) in the lengthwise bars. Each profiled support has recesses (1a) for the end studs (1b) and one or more middle studs (1c) which fit in according to the height of the sides (2b) of the U-shaped lengthwise bar. A rectangular crosswise hole (1d) is situated in the top overlapping part on a level with the bar sides. Thinner sections (1e) are vertically bent to make a lower surface which is convex (1f) for the rectangular hole.

Description

 The present invention relates to furniture, and in particular to beds, sofas, chairs fitted or forming fixed or removable bed bases.

 It is quite obvious to make box springs with a frame fitted transversely with wooden slats arranged in parallel and which can be deformed separately both vertically in height during a load, so as to ensure a certain flexibility, that angularly with respect to the horizontal plane thus marrying the profile of the lying person.

 These slats are held separately from their ends, on deformable profiled blocks, of flexible material which are arranged at regular intervals and fixed transversely by screws or otherwise overflowing on the internal faces of the beams of the frame of the bed base.

 These known fastenings of the slats securing a particularly long assembly work essentially sense the inconvenience of ensuring premature wear of each profiled block which works separately, and which therefore deforms and slips rapidly, eliminating the parallelism of the slats between them.

 In addition, the rapid collapse of the profiled supports, causes the uneven return of the slats in the non-use position and the horizontal deformability of the support surface of the bed base.

 Finally, the arrangement of the slats between and outside the side members of the frame of the box spring harms the transverse rigidity and leads to the use of spacer bars connecting the said side members.

 The flexible and deformable fixing according to the invention makes it possible to avoid these drawbacks. In this latter, in fact, the profiled supports made of flexible or semi-rigid material are successively housed in height by fitting their cross section into the interior of the profiled bars constituting the longitudinal members of the frame of the box spring, while coupling longitudinally between -they are articulated by their extreme sides with complementary profiles.

 According to another characteristic, each profiled support is established in the form of a flat block the lower part of which corresponds substantially to the height of the wings of the profiled iron forms vertical studs regularly separated in the manner of a base, while that the upper part located beyond said wings axially has an oblong transverse opening, the length of which extends symmetrically between two consecutive studs, while its section allows, by the inherent elasticity, the engagement and retention of the shouldered end of each slat Of wood.

 According to another characteristic, each profiled support authorizes by its studs, the vertical support of each end of the batten, while the transverse opening allows by the thinned, upper and lower sections formed between the studs, to ensure the displacement angular elasticity of each slat with respect to the horizontal plane, under the effect of a load.

 This flexible and deformable fixing of the wooden slats, in particular for the bed bases, sofas, object of the invention, comprises a plurality of support-profiles (1) made of flexible, or semi-rigid material, rubber for example, respectively in the form of a rectangular block to be successively housed end to end, by interlocking along part of their height in the interior of the hollow U-shaped cross section (2a) of profiled irons (2) constituting the beams of the bed base ( S) and / or possibly the sleepers.

 In the case of beams, these profiled bars (2) are connected and assembled in a removable manner, by screw or otherwise, to the end crosspieces (T) to form a bed base (S) which can be entirely dismantled or are still directly fixed by welding or otherwise thereby constituting a rigid frame.

 In the same way, the profiled bars (2) can form the lengths of the different parts of an articulated bed base (S1) with folding head or foot as illustrated in FIG. 1.
