Abstract

The engineer's vice is fabricated from rolled steel channel sections, for coarse and fine adjustment of the mobile jaw. Its base comprises a pair of rails connected by a welded toe strap, fixed to a bench by a bolt through the strap or by flange clips. The fixed jaw bridges rails at one end, sited over a cross bar locating the lever-operated screw. A screw driven slide fits between rails which also guide the mobile jaw. Rebated plates welded transversely across the flange ends may secure a jaw to the rails, the coarse adjustment of the jaw being effected by a pin engaging slide web holes. The pin may be mounted on a pivotable plate secured in a fork by an axle pin.
