Abstract
The screen pocket centrifuge has a rotor body with an upper rotor plate, lower rotor plate and intermediate curved screen pockets. The material is fed into the centrifuge via perforated distributing cone. The screen pockets have a screening surface with a hollow space behind and a drain pipe through the lower rotor plate ducting the filtrate into a housing formed by a wall and the lower rotor plate. The tangent to a screening surface and a perpendicular line to the centrifugal travel direction enclose an angle equivalent to the angle of glide of the layer of solids which build up on the screen surface. The built up layers of solids stay on the screening surface as long as the rotor operates at full speed. Following a deceleration of the rotor layer of solids begins to slide along surfaces of the screen pockets and is finally discharged into a solids compartment formed by two cylindrical walls.
