Abstract

The limbs of the tweezers intersect half-way along their length and open to approx. 3mm wide. A closing pressure of 200 to 300 grams is possible. Their finger grip zone (1,4) is rounded to give a roughly circular shape for comfort in use. The jaws can have ribbed surfaces (6), and the total length of the instrument can be between 15 and 16cm. The design enables the live tick to be detached complete with sucker, thus avoiding the risk of a festering wound, caused by leaving part of the parasite in the flesh.
