Abstract

The tip of a hypodermic needle is machined to a point so that the tip of the point is co-axial with the body of the needle. The end of the needle is slightly bent prior to being sharpened so that the bore is no longer co-axial with the needle body, to provide a solid tip. Compared with needles sharpened by a plain bevel so that the tip of the point is tangential to the needle section, the claimed profile requires less pressure and has less tendancy to wander from an initial point of contact if applied by a rotary drill, e.g. for anaesthetising bone. The mouth of the needle has a smaller section and is therefore less likely to become plugged by fragments of drilled matl, esp. if the taper profile is further relieved behind the mouth of the exposed bore to provide a recess for collecting local detritus.

Cette forme a peur caractéristique de comporter une saignée
de largeur égale au diamètre de l'aiguille ceci afin d'éviter
lors de la compression une augmentation de cette dimension.
