Abstract

A tube is used as a surgical drain for a sore and has a bellows section to permit checking of the pressure variations when subjected to vacuum or atmospheric conditions during use. Cleaning is simplified for re use although low cost permits once only usuage. A bellows section for a drain tube is formed from a thermoformable plastics after heating in a mould. The ends may be formed to permit matching to tubes of different dimensions. The ends allow attachment of a needle in order to pierce the stopper of the flask under vacuum which is used in the surgical drain process. The vacuum may be checked by braking the action of the bellows by a calibrated spring attached to a pointer operating on a dial.
