Abstract

The heat exchanger transfers heat from a hot surface (14) to a current of air in contact with it. It is used in an open hearth, with a rear partition with fins (19) fixed on its inner face. The fins are in staggered formation 15 to 30 mm apart. Their height is 5 to 15 cm and, pref., at least 9 cm. Air intake (15,16) and output (17) channels are provided by another partition spaced at fin height. The channels are air tight. The hearth plate is cast and the fins are in stainless steel, welded on.
