Abstract

A jacket or waistcoat for mountain climbing is provided with protection for the buttocks and the crutch in the form of a shaped or contoured strap which passes through the wearer's legs to hold the jacket down during wear. The strap may fold away when not required to offer extra warmth to the back of the jacket and limit condensation caused by wearing a back pack. The belt is a trapezoid shaped piece of fabric having curved sides, and the wide end covering the buttocks may fit to the jacket by seaming, hooks, press-studs or 'Velcro" (RTM). The narrow end, incorporating an elastic strip, may be attached similarly.
