Abstract

The trap has a part (2) which holds the bullet exterior and another part (3) is for the core. Both are hard and resistant to deformation. The second piece fits the bottom of the tail (1) and the first part is pierced by two recesses (6,7). A sealing joint (4) is placed between the two parts. The second part has a conical surface (9) protruding with its point towards the arrival of the bullet core. The conical surface is to receive the splash from the bullet on arrival. Both parts have annular lightening grooves.

Description

The present invention relates to improvements made to grenades launched using a rifle, and more particularly relates to a bullet trap designed so as to use a maximum of the kinetic energy of the bullets for launching the grenade. .

The bullet trap according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises a first receiving part which the bullet first encounters when it leaves the rifle and which is capable of retaining the envelope of the bullet and a second receiving part capable to disperse and retain the products constituting the core of the bale
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the second receiving part is in the form of a conical surface with an axis coincident with that of the barrel of the rifle and the point of which is turned towards the side from which the nucleus of the bullet arrives.

Thanks to such an arrangement, the following advantages are obtained
- the kinetic energy of the ball is better used because the deformation of the magpies these receptors is less t
- the impulse imparted by the grenade ball is lengthened, and the risk of damage to the grenade at launch is thereby reduced w
- the mass of the receiving parts can be reduced.

An embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the single appended figure which represents an axial section view of the bullet trap contained inside the tail 1 of the grenade.

The trap comprises a first part 2, receiving the envelope of the ball and a second part 3, receiving the core of the ball, both made of a hard and slightly deformable material. The second part 3 is disposed against the bottom of the tail 1 and the first part against the second part with the interposition of a flexible seal 4 intended both to absorb the impact of the ball on the receiving part 2 and to ensure the gas tightness between the receiving parts 2 and 3. The two parts 2 and 3 are held against the bottom of the tail 1 by a circular ring 5 bearing against the internal wall of the tail and against the first part 2.

The room. receiving 2 is axially pierced with a first bore 6 which is extended by a second bore 7 of smaller cross section, so that the bottom of the bore 6 is reduced to an annular range 8
The receiving foot 3 has a conical surface 9 of the same axis as that of the bores 6 and 7 and the tip of which faces the receiving part 2. The sides of the conical surface widen at the base to form active surfaces 10 on which spread the products constituting the core of the ball.

The operation of the bullet trap according to the invention is as follows when the bullet enters the bore 6 of the receiving part 2, it is stopped by the bottom 8.

Après leur dispersion, lesdits produits se répandent sur toute la surface intérieure 10 de la pièce réceptrice 3.By inertia, the core of the bullet smashes the front part of the bullet shell. The products constituting the core of the bullet then penetrate into the bore 7 of the receiving part 2 by compressing the air contained in the interior space of the receiving part 3 and are dispersed by the conical surface 9. After their dispersion, the said products spread over the entire interior surface 10 of the receiving part 3.

la dispersion du noyau par la surface conique 9 provsque 1'allongement de l'impulsion donnée à la grenade et répartit sur une plus grande surface l'application de l'effort, ce qui permet de réduire l'épaisseur de la pièce réceptrice 3 et donc sa masse. the dispersion of the core by the conical surface 9 causes the extension of the impulse given to the grenade and distributes the application of the force over a larger surface, which makes it possible to reduce the thickness of the receiving part 3 and therefore its mass.

les évidements annulaires 11 et 12 ménagés autour des pièces réceptrices permettent également d'alléger le piège à balle. the annular recesses 11 and 12 formed around the receiving parts also make it possible to lighten the bullet trap.
