Abstract

The speculum comprises an elongated cone with a thin tapering end which is split. The tapered end is inserted into the ear and a second conical speculum is slid inside it. A slight axial pressure on the inner cone causes the split end to open to provide a better view of the inner ear. In an alternative arrangement the speculum is split at both ends in diametrically opposed positions. When the two outer halves are pressed together the two inner, tapered halves are forced apart to widen the auditory canal.

Description

The present invention improves the visibility of the eardrum by ear specula.

In the current state, the ear specula are all made of a single conical piece which has no part which is movable relative to another (Figure 1).

When there is earwax in the ear canal, the visibility of the eardrum through the speculum is reduced or zero.

The doctor must then arrange a first time of evacuation of the cerumen which is painful and painful.

The device according to the invention makes it possible, thanks to the opening end, to repel the earwax, to remove it from the field of vision and thus in many cases to avoid evacuating the earwax by means of cotton swabs.

Speculum type 1 (Figure 2) has a long, tapered and especially slotted end, which can therefore open like a valve. The second peculiarity is the existence of a flattening of the end so as to form a stair step forming a vuttoir. The opening of the movable upper valve (1) is caused by the push of another speculum with normal end (Figure 3).

The inclined plane which constitutes the movable valve (1) can be made up of two parts. When the pusher speculum (dotted line in FIG. 3) is introduced up to the intermediate level of this movable valve, the two specula adhere to one another and the valve is ajar to allow visibility of the field; this is the introductory position.

Fonctionnement :
Operation:
a normal speculum is introduced into the ear. If this first vision shows the presence of abundant earwax, the speculum is removed, covered by the speculum with openable end in the insertion position (see above).

The tapered end is introduced either into a small opening existing in the earwax plug, or slid between the plug and the wall of the duct if there is no opening. A simple pressure then allows the opening of the speculum and good visibility of the eardrum, the earwax having been pushed back on the sides
Speculum type 2 (Figure 4):
the wide end of the speculum is hollowed out, in a triangular cut, on the two diametrically opposite edges.

Fonctionnement
Operation
here the opening of the split end is caused by the simple pressure on the large end of the speculum, as by a lever system around the point A. This sepculum is therefore used alone and not with two cam type 1.

The speculum object of the invention allows to see the eardrums without evacuation of earwax.

Speculum with ears made of a cone whose tapered end is split and can open like a valve, either by the play of a speculum with nor malle end coming to push on the internal face of the movable valve organized in abutment, either by means of a recess made in the large end of the opening speculum allowing the opening of the small end according to a lever mechanism.
