Abstract
The economiser consists of a metal plate (4) adjoining the evaporator of a heat pump fitted with fins (5,6) at right angles to the plate on both sides of it. The plate is exposed to solar rays (1) to collect low grade heat from the atmosphere (2). The economiser is controlled by a motor controlled by temperature sensors in the evaporator circuit. It operates with solar rays in the day and extracts heat from the air during the night, or from vapour condensation from the atmosphere.
