Abstract
The power generating paddle wheel structure includes two rotating shells (1,2) mounted on a shaft (3) held between two parallel supports (8). Between the two supports are several metal strips forming the blades of the paddle wheel. The shells are spherical and provide buoyancy. Each paddle wheel blade comprises a strip of bendable material with provision for attaching it to the shaft at intervals along its length. The strip of material (4) is bent to produce a sine wave shape so that the loops of the wave project from either side of the shaft. Successive loops are similar, with the spacing between them being regular. A number of such strips are attached to the device, angularly spaced around the shaft. The structure is half submerged in the flowing water, and is used to power an electric generator.
