Abstract

The electronic interlock circuit prevents theft, esp. for vehicles. The circuit allows the lock proper and the interlock system to be mounted separatly rather than integrally on the steering column, for example, and hence makes interference more difficult. The circuit is based on the use of a two position keyed switch, 'stop' and 'go'. On insertion and turning, the key initiates the emission of a coded signal which is received and verified by a circuit generating a second and differently coded signal, which itself releases or initiates the interlock mechanism. Each action is independently initiated from the other. The first coded signal is emitted in synchronous series from a multiplexer incorporating an address counter and time base generator. The verification circuit employs a counter and a further series/parallel converter.
