Abstract

The collector has a collector panel carried by a chassis, with a tracking system which uses the time of day and the date in the year, to maintain the panel at right angles to the impinging rays from the sun. The chassis is articulated about a horizontal axis for directional orientation and about a perpendicular axis for azimuth variations, during the course of each day. Pref. the panel has an insulating casing containing flattened copper tubes soldered to copper plates below a glass cover plate. It is enclosed by a rectangular frame (18), supported by a U-shaped frame (15) attached to it at either end and by a semi-circular element (20) at one end. A lifting mechanism (14) raises the U-shaped frame (15) at the other end and the panel is tipped via a drive gear (21) coupled to the semi-circular element (20).
