Abstract

The collector has a rectangular casing (6) which holds a solar absorption panel (5). It is mounted on a support (7) which can pivot two axes. It is rotated about these by two electric motors. A detector (1) fixed at one end of the frame consists of two opaque plates intersecting at right angles standing vertically up from the frame. They shield photo-electric cells placed between them. The output of the cells is fed to servo mechanisms which energise the motors rotating the absorportion panel. When a cell falls in the shadow of one of the plates the servo system drives the panel to bring the cell back into the sun which makes the panel perpendicular to the solar radiation.
