Abstract

The process comprises adding powdery metallurgical slags which have undergone disintegration brought about by allotropic transformation of calcium silicate (i.e. from the beta monoclinic form to the gamma rhombohedral form). The slag is in the form of a sand of particle size less than 100 microns and has a high specific surface. The process is applied to the consolidation of sludges using hydraulic binders, apt. setting agents and fine materials from dedusting appts. Appreciably less hydraulic binders and setting agents are required and the process enables use of the dewatered sludge to form filling material, or granulates.
