Abstract

The direction of a fixed or mobile body or a radio beacon is determined from a radiogoniometer. An amplifier driving coloured LED's indicates whether the signal is strong or weak and a flat area allows the user to write the information during short transmission periods. A plastic casing (2) comprising two shells houses a magnetic compass with a sighting element (6) through which the bearing is A fixed index (7) passes through the compass pivot axis and is to a ferrite antenna. An FET increases the selectivity of the antenna and after detection the signal is amplified and applied to a two colour LED to indicate when the signal is present and when it falls below a threshold level.
