Abstract

The parent patent described the hydrogenation of a hydrocarbon fraction comprising didefinic hydrocarbon(s) and acetylenic hydrocarbon(s), in which the fraction, at least partly in the liq. phase, and H2 pass in contact with a first supported Pd catalyst the Pd crystallites of the catalyst having an ave. particle size of at least 50 Angstroms. In the patent of addn., after passing over the above catalyst, the charge of hydrocarbons pass over a second Pd catalyst having a Pd crystallite size not more than 45 Angstroms.Pref. 5-70 (10-50)% of the total volume of the 2 catalysts corresponds to the one having an average crystallite size of at least 50 Angstroms. The stability of the catalyst is further enhanced without significant loss of activity.
