Abstract

The mechanism controlling a car hand brake has its support (1) fixed to the chassis. There is an operating lever (13) with one part pivoted to a brake cable anchor (19). A locking rod (28) has a push button (32) at one end. The push button operates two ratchet parts on the lever (22), and the support (26). One part is a toothed sector and the other acts as a pawl to hold the cable locked. The toothed sector is mounted on the ratcheting lever on the operating lever and the pawl is a plate fixed on the support working with it.
