Abstract

The feed moves blank and finished workpieces (2) respectively to and from an automatic lathe (1). It has two inversely inclined ramps (23, 28) in the feed and recovery magazine functions. A handling arm (14) with two sets of pincers (16, 17) transfers the pieces between the ramps and the machining station. It is frame mounted and can both slide and pivot relative to a vertical axis. The arm cantilevers horizontally from the axis to locate a horizontal slide upon which the pincer block pivots. One set of pincers picks up a pre-separated blank workpiece from the feed magazine (28) and transfers it to the lathe chuck the other picking up a finished workpiece from the chuck and transferring it to the recovery magazine (88).
