Abstract

The appts. includes a temp. sensor which actuates a switch when the surface of the liq. reaches the sensor. The pref. appts. consists of a thermally insulated tube located in the upper part of a tank or pipe; and inside the tube is a heater cartridge and the sensor. The tube is pref. made of ceramic, and has radial holes via which the liq. can reach the sensor. The heater cartridge maintains the sensor at a prescribed temp. until the liq. rises and exerts a quenching action of the bottom end of the sensor. This sharp drop in temp. is used esp. to switch off a pump feeding the liq. into the tank. When the level of the liq. drops, the temp. of the heated sensor rises, and the temp. rise is used to switch on the pump.
