Abstract

Grabs (6) on the feed side of the working assembly (2) are movable axially in relation to the latter in the supply system for a machine working on trunk timber. They grip the trunk (7) and move it lengthways through the assembly. The grabs are paired for grouping into separate units, able to move axially in relation to each other and to the working assembly. They can be mounted on sliding carriages (8) moving on fixed thrust frames (5) and can be in the form of swivelling flaps with control units (11). This ensures that the trunk is firmly held until securely in position for working, without danger of premature loosening of bark.
