Abstract

The seat is used in the practising of yoga, being contoured to stabilise the pelvic girdle of the user, and, thus, facilitating the adoption of comfortable meditational postures. The moulded contours follow the lower and frontal sectors of the ischium whilst entering uniform pressures on the rear upper sectors of the ilium. The thrust centre of the fifth lumbar vertibrae, the sacral promentary, and the point of the ischium are aligned in a common vertical frontal plane. The seat is moulded to the shape of the posterior of the user, so, enabling the small of the back to act with the inner thighs to counterbalance the residual imbalance of an imperfectly positioned pelvic basin.
