Abstract

The shelf has a flat bottom and the top is wedge shaped with a series of varying shaped holes and indentations designed to dissipate the energy of the moving surrounding water. The sea bed is first levelled and then lower outside longitudinal elements are laid and connected by cross bracing beams, the space between being filled with intermediate bottom elements. A row of notched elements is laid along the top centre and each end of the shelf is protected by an inclined slab having an end projection to notch into grooves in the longitudinal elements.
