Abstract

The cupboard has a locking mechanism (8), in order, when one drawer (2) is pulled out, to lock the remaining drawers and keep them in a closed state. The locking mechanism (8) contains a locking rod (10) which extends over all the drawers (2) and which has an angular cross-section. Attached to each drawer (2) at the rear end are locking parts (12) which each have a detaining extension (38) and an actuating extension (40), the outer spacing (A) of which is smaller than the spacing (B) of the inner outside edges of the legs (16, 18) of the locking rod (10). Between the extensions (38, 40) there is a detaining recess (42) for the engagement of the rear leg (18) of the locking rod (10) when the drawer is closed. As a result of the smaller outer spacing of the extensions (38, 40) and the arrangement of the detaining recess (42) between these, when one drawer is opened the locking rod can pivot directly into the detaining recess of the remaining drawers. This makes it possible to prevent an idle travel of the locked drawers.
