Abstract

A machine gun or cannon, in which the very high rate of fire is limited only by the supply of shells, has electric or electronic firing control. Shells are supplies by a conveyor with a circular movement and several guns may be coupled via an electronic controller to provide a curtain of fire. A cannon with cooling tubes has a hole in the breech from which empty shell cases are ejected. The shells are supplied via a conveyor chain which is loaded with shells from loading magazines. An electric or hydraulic motor drives the shell supply drum and a second motor rotates the barrel which is of the open type.
