Abstract
The solar panel consists of a series of part cylindrical parabolic reflectors mounted side by side on a rotatable rectangular platform. The panel makes maximum use of diffused lighe during overcast conditions etc. and provides both a thermal and electrical output. Photo-voltaic cells (14b) are carried along the length of the mirrored reflectors (8b) at the focal point by narrow rectangular fluid channels (16b). The channels may reach as far as the focus or may extend to the forward planes of the parabolas. The channel surfaces are blackened to ensure maximum absorbtion and may consist of two sheets of metal pressed together to form a circulation system of small parallel channels. The panel has a protective glass cover (12b) also serving to retain heat.
